How to Support

Remember to take care of your own needs too
Help them talk through it.
Remain calm and positive.
Take them seriously
Learn about it
Be consistant, available, empathetic, and patient
Recommend professional help and support the decision.
Do things with that person that they enjoy

Coping Mechanisms (will do some during seminar)

Count to 10 (helps you slow down and focus on the now)
Get enough sleep, exercise, and good nutrition. (regulates horomones/chemicals in the body that can help combat anxiety and other mental illness)
Look for patterns. Keep a log of what you do during the day and when you feel anxiety. (helps you recognize triggers and find ways to avoid or deal with them)
Counseling/talk about it (helps you see the cause and put things into perspective as well as discover solutions)
Positive self talk (creates new pathways in the brain that can become the new go-to mentally)
Take deep breaths (gives your body a fresh supply of oxygen, releasing chemicals that will help you feel better)
