Diagnostic techniques for breast diseases

Various diagnostic techniques are employed to identify and evaluate breast diseases. Aspiration biopsy involves taking a tissue sample from the breast for laboratory analysis. MRI of the breast provides detailed images by placing the patient in a prone position with specific sequences to evaluate different conditions, especially useful between certain days of the menstrual cycle.

breast ultrasound

sound waves are produced and this results in a sonogram within the breast area

women with prostheses require a modified and adapted conventional technique known as the eklund technique

mammography studies are mostly performed in standing position
a type of x-ray performed on the breasts to study them and adequately detail any anomaly

MRI of the breast

techniques
when the study is aimed at evaluating prostheses, sequences with silicone suspension or for their specific identification are included
Usually, coronal and sagittal T2 and T2-weighted sequences are performed in axial pano with or without fat suppression technique.
the patient is placed in the prone position with the breasts suspended inside the coil, both breasts are explored simultaneously
in patients with menstrual cycles, the test should be performed between days 6 and 16 of said cycle in order to avoid physiological uptakes
To follow a stable and adequate relationship, it is recommended to obtain thicknesses not greater than 4mm and 512*512 dies.
breast scans that use computerized images to leave a detailed image of the structure within the breast

Breast exam.

The doctor checks the lymph nodes and both breasts to detect bulges or abnormalities.

Spectroscopy

It is a technique that allows studying the metabolic profiles of tissues which are altered with the presence of disease. It detects and quantifies the resonance signals of certain molecules present in much lower concentrations than water.

Sentinel lymph node biopsy

to determine if cancer has spread to your lymph nodes remove the lymph nodes that are the first to receive lymph drainage from the tumor

Aspiration biopsy.

to remove a sample of breast tissue to take to a laboratory for diagnosis.
