HYMN TO APHRODITE

Zeus, displeased with Aphrodite's arrogance about causing gods to fall for mortals, devised a plan to humble her by making her fall for a mortal named Anchises. Aphrodite, transformed to appear irresistible, travels to Cyprus where the Graces adorn her in divine fragrances and golden attire.

{220} Aphrodite tells him the story's of all the different mortals that the gods have blessed and now live on Olympus in order to calm Anchises down.

{270} Aphrodite tells him their child will return at the age of 5 and be taken to troy and no one must know it was her child.

{280} Anchises gets warned that if he boasts about sleeping with the goddess of love, the gods will strike him down and Zeus will throw a lightning bolt at him.

Unpleased with Aphrodite's boasting of himself and other gods for falling for mortals Zeus made Aphrodite fall for a mortal named Anchises.

{70} She lands on Mount Ida known for its beautiful springs. Anchises was there herding sheep and he was alone as the other farmers were far away, this is when he first lays his eyes on the being infront of him.

{170} Anchises falls for her tricks and undresses Aphrodite in a near by cabin where she then tells him who she really is. He is in fear for his life but Aphrodite tells him to be courageous.

{60} She travels to Cyprus after Zeus makes her fall for the mortal with the looks of a god. The graces help her bathe in scented fragrance's and dress in golden clothes making her unresistable by anyone.

{100} When he first lays his eyes on the being in front of him he immediately starts worshiping to the gods as he knows that the being in front of him is a being out of this world, however Aphrodite lies to him and tells him she's the daughter of some king brought to him by Hermes because he is her true love.

Cytheria is name of the godess of love more commonly refered to as Aphordite.

{10} Aphrodite is able to charm all gods and this is true except for three. The three goddesses she can not influence or charm are Artemis the hunter, Athena the wise and Hestia the queen.

{40} Aphrodite has the ability to charm all the gods including even Zeus himself. On Olympus she boast bout how she made Gods have affairs with mortals.

{30} Most desirable Aphrodite is wanted by all the gods and turns down the hands of Apollo and Poseidon in marriage.

{30} Makes an oath instead with Zeus by touching his head, to forever remain a pure and divine goddess. She chooses to remains a virgin forever.
