HOW DOES DIALOGUE EMPOWER US TO LIVE BY THE GOLDEN RULE?

Text to Self: My school community is very multicultural, this makes many of my daily interactions with other students interfaith dialogue. By being exposed to so much diversity I learn to become comfortable in an environment that is very diversified. This not only allows interfaith dialogue to take place, but I also become very respectful to all cultures. The dialogue of everyday life is present in this conversation because our class is diverse and this activity encourages us to have productive conversations about our differences.

In one of my religion classes in grade 10, we separated in to groups of about five people to discuss cultural difference. I believe that we had a unit in grade 10 which was solely about culture. In this discussion we talked about our family traditions and out different faiths. This is a very good example of interfaith dialogue as we were able to share our differences and appreciate them.

Text to World: On April 2013 in Nigeria the 5th International Conference for Youth and Interfaith Dialogue took place. During this event. During this event, representatives of Faith-based groups within Nigeria and globally were brought together to foster mutual respect between diverse ethnic and religious groups. The conference has introduced and supported initiatives that expand shared perceptions among individuals of different religions, cultures, genders, and ethnicities. This event utilized an Interreligious and Intercultural Model for Dialogue and Peaceful coexistence in Nigeria, and a strategy to overcome misunderstandings and stereotypes that affect relations between groups and within societies. This is an example of the dialogue of everyday life because the organization is promoting it between the youth with different cultural backgrounds, an event similar to this is Seeds of Peace.

Text to Text: An article where the dialogue of everyday living was present was in the video clip of the Pope speaking. In this speech Pope Francis launches a campaign called Share the Journey. His words in this speech is an example of the dialogue of everyday living.

This video is a form of dialogue because the Pope says that we must embrace others with "arms open wide, ready for sincere embrace". This means that we must be welcoming towards all people and that we must be affectionate and compassionate towards them. He also says that "the Mother Church... embraces everyone in sharing the common journey". This means that we are all working towards the same thing in this world, which is peace, and we must look past our differences as the Church does and embrace them. The underlying message of the video is to partake in the dialogue of everyday life with all people despite their religious beliefs.

Text to Faith: The dialogue of everyday life is based on the daily interactions of people of different religions. It takes place in schools, in the community, at work, and through media. These ways of interacting offer an opportunity to engage in the dialogue of everyday life. The bonds of trust and understanding that are built through everyday interactions can make inter religious dialogues a reality.

Interfaith dialogue between people of different religious beliefs fulfill the Church's call to share the Gospel message in the community because interfaith dialogue increases mutual understanding and builds good relationships. One of the primary messages in the Gospel and the Church's teachings is to love one another. Without interfaith dialogue between people of different religious beliefs, there would never be love in a multicultural society, which is what the Church works towards. Nostra Aetate, a Church document set up by the Vatican, provided the building blocks for a positive engagement with the Muslim tradition. Through this document it is evident that the Church aims to create good relations with people of all religious backgrounds.
