Enhancing Performance

Nutrition

Ensuring that the diet is fulfilling
the needs of the athlete. The body
needs fuel to be able to function
at its full ability. By creating meals
that are based off of what the
athlete needs and what will help
the athlete overall can be very
sufficient and show great results.

On top of a proper diet, it is important
that an athlete is staying hydrated.
As learned earlier, there is such thing
as too little water, but there is also
such thing as too much. It is very
important that the balance is found
and kept to ensure the athlete is
always properly hydrated.

Drugs and Supplements

One well known way that athletes
can excel in their sport is though
drug use. Often times, if not always
used illegally, these drugs can be
highly addicting and affects of them
can be very temporary resulting in
higher dosages. There are several
different types of drugs and
supplements used but the most well
known type is steroids. They are
used to increase strength and muscle
mass.

Fitness

Balance training is a type of
training that is pretty self
explanatory. It focuses on
ones balance and teaches
certain muscle groups to
engage to increase stability.
The main thing balance
training is used to is
engaging the core muscles
and strengthening them.

There are several types of training
that could take place to increase
an athletes stamina. In order to
ensure that the training fits
accordingly to the needs of the
athlete, it needs to be decided
on what the main factor is, i.e
strength, agility, etc. There are
two examples of fitness training

Strength training is again self
explanatory. It essentially
creates muscle contractions
which increases your overall
strength.

Mental Health and Stability

Being mentally well is a major part of
our everyday lives. It allows for us to
be active and find enjoyment in
activities such as sports. When we
are mentally unwell, we often
struggle to find motivation to do even
the simplest tasks. It is
important as an athlete to take
time to oneself to fully relax and
have downtime. When you are
constantly on the go training and
following strict dieting rules, you
can easily get caught up in it and
loose focus. By taking wellness days
and recharging yourself, you are
helping not only yourself as a
person but your overall ability in
the sport as well.

Enhancing performance is when there is an improvement made in performance, often related to physical activity
