Jesus

- Golden Rule
I learnt the golden rule from many different stories in the bible. "do unto others as you as you would have them do unto you". It is a simple teaching yet it has had a huge effect on the way I interact with people. It's not even difficult to do either which make it even more
- Selfless
I have learnt selflessness through the actions of Jesus throughout the stories in the bible. I learned these teachings at church and in religion classes.

- Health Standards
To achieve the health goals I have had to set health standards for myself. These standards include eating fruits and vegetables daily, exercising off the court, tracking daily calories, as well as consistency. Some of these are things I've already known for a very long time but over the past year, Noels motivational speeches have reinforced these ideals in me.
- Health Goals
Noel Deyzel is an influence who promotes a healthy and active lifestyle. similarly to how Merrick helped me set sports goals for myself Noel has taught me how to set Health goals which can help me on my sports journey.

My Parents

- Responsibility
My parents have taught me to be a responsible young adult through their actions. Watching what they did as I have grown up has been a guide for how I conduct myself.
- Role Model
Being the oldest of three boys it is my responsibility to be a good role model for my younger brothers. However, this also meant that I did not have an older brother to look up to. Instead, I looked up to and learned to form my parents.

Rick Riordan

- Find A Hobby
Reading his novels also taught me to always keep myself preoccupied with something. I believe that it is important to have some form of hobby that challenges the brain or stimulates it. It may not even have to be physical activity, reading a book or even building a model is perfect for keeping oneself preoccupied with something.
- Inspire Creativity
I have always enjoyed reading his stories growing up. I feel as though they have played a major role in my overall creativity.

First Time playing Basketball

When I first began playing the sport of basketball I had little to no idea how much of a profound impact it would end up having on my life. Originally it was a game to me, where I would go out and play once a week with some friends. But it has turned into a lifestyle for me. because of it, I've learnt so many things that don't even have to do with playing the sport. Things like: My people skills, teamwork, communication, meeting new people, working well with new people, responsibility... These have all come from the time that I have spent playing the sport. I can't begin to imagine how much different I would be had I decided to treat it like a game rather than a lifestyle.

Quarantine

The first Quarantine we experienced during 2020 allowed me to reflect on where I wanted to go with my life. It provided me with time to not only work on my athleticism but my mindset as well. I had to learn how to keep myself motivated over a very long period. I learnt to keep working even if I was not seeing any of the benefits yet. Because am stuck to my training regiment, at the end of it all I reaped the benefits of all my hard work. and to this day I am still benefiting from the hard work that I put in during those first six months.

PGC Basketball

Over the summer of 2018 and the summer of 2019, I went to a basketball camp which completely shifted my thinking around the sport. While there I learnt a completely different skill set which changed the way I played the sport. I learn how to carry myself while out on the court, this includes: Emotions, energy, and spirit. Those three things have opened so many doors for me. Coaches love to see players who can energize their teammates during tough situations. This skill set can also be carried into many corners of my life such as: working in groups, meeting new people, self-motivation, or even leadership off the court.

Merrick Palmer

- Achieving Goals
Learning to achieve the goals that I set for myself also came naturally just like setting those goals. I learnt that it takes patience and hard work to surpass those goals
- Setting Goals
I learnt this teaching while traininig under him. It came naturally as he taught me new skills that furthured my understanding of the sport. Setting goals for myself became a regular occurance as I began to see the works of my labours coming to fruition.

Kobe Bryant

- Excellence
Kobe made it a point to be an outstanding basketball player. Not only through basketball but in everything he did he made sure to do it to the best of his abilities. I strive to achieve this standard of excellence.
- Work Ethic
Although I never knew Kobe personally I still learned from his actions. The stories that I've been told about him are always stories about his grit and determination. I based my work ethic on his.
