West side Story is a 1950 rewrite of Romeo and Juliet Hook: Context: Claim:West Side story was the most effective rewrite of Romeo & Juliet

Simba's Pride's story was more obvious and easier to understand

In conclusion
There isn't realy much to cover on why Simba's Pride isn't an effective rewrite of romeo and juliet.
Overall the story was simplified to make kids enjoy it

Watch almost any disney movie and there is some sort of joke that only an older audience woild understand

The devs of disney usually use jokes with meanings that children aren't meant to understand to make it look like the adults are enjoying the movie with their children so they are not bored

The story is slightly altered making it hard to tell which characters are meant a counterpart of one of the original characters

The roles of most charcters were hard to make out.

I originally believed that Kiara was meant to be Romeo and Kovu was Juliet in the beggining

Almost everything is already known by the audience
It is literally a kids movie so of course the story must be understandable to children
includes "Dramatic Irony" which is when the audience knows something big but the charactors don't, resulting in lots of anxiousness from the audience thus increasing the rating of the play

The story is straightforward but not in a childish way

Transition:
Although there are only about two deaths in the movie (the main character and his best friend, they are greatly exaggeratted and made to feel sad, and we all know that children don't like sad
When Tony dies, he just dies, but the characters that feel his death give the audience a feeling just as bad
Right as Tony's friend dies, he wants to go out respected so he hands one of the jets' knife back to him before dying.
Everything is right to the point
There is no forshadowing

It is the most realistic

Therefore
There are no gimmicks to rope in the audience like magic or super science.
There is no sugar coating for anything

The cops aren't complete dunces

It contains an actual brutal death
It take place in new york
They don't introduce the "main" character until at least ten minutes into the movie
The background and clothing matches the era
It is 1950
