Security and Encryption - Revision
What is Encryption?
A way to send data securely to other people or locations
You must have the key or password to decrypt or open the files
If the data is encrypted, it's called plain text
Why do we need encryption?
We need to protect the files and data we create and send across the "The World Wide Web"
It stops malicious malware or hackers receiving the data in plan text or files and then being used against the owners wishes
Types of Encryption
MD5
MD5 is the most widely used cryptographic al algorithm to encrypt data and stores the data in a 32 hexadecimal number, it can also be used to verify data integrity.
SHA-2
SHA-2 is a type of encryption designed by the United States National Security Agency, and is commonly used a way to process the data securely, but is considered insecure against well-funded opponents.
Examples when security wasn't in place.
