Mark Zuckerberg, and a few Harvard College students as well as, roommates Eduardo Saverin, Andrew McCollum, Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes are the creators of Facebook. Zuckerberg owns 28.4% of facebook shares.

The benefits of using Facebook are they are a great asset for adolescents and adults, who enjoy communicating and expressing themselves online. As well as, businesses, who want to grow. Also, organizations can use it to spread awareness.

Facebook is banned in North Korea and China.

Snapchat

Snapchat is a discrete messaging app. The purpose of Snapchat is to send and receive messages where the photo disappears after the desired amount of time. Also, one can erase or chose to save their messages. It also will tell the other user if someone screenshots your photo, or chat. Snapchat also offers unique and fun filters for its users.

Creators of Snapchat are Evan Spiegel, Bobby Murphy, and Reggie Brown.

Snapchat allows you to post events globally that just happen in a few easy clicks. It can also be shared through other social media platforms. You can also access news outlets and follow celebrities which allows you to see their snaps.

Snapchat was originally called Peekaboo.

Twitter

Twitter can be used to view online news and also be used as a social media outlet where you can post and make tweets which are short messages. You can also follow and view famous people, influential people, politicians etc. Its a website where you can express how you feel, what you're doing, etc.

Jack Dorsey, Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams invented Twitter in 2006.

Advantages of twitter are great for businesses, finding work, spreading awareness. Since Twitter has a huge social media audience there are many advantages if you want to share something with a huge number of people.

When Twitter was first made it was almost named "Friendstalker".

Viber

Viber allows your cellphone number to be used as your profile. With this you can make free phone calls to anyone around the world who has a Viber account using WiFi or 3G data.

Talmon Marco founded Viber in 2010, and still remains the owner.

The benefits of Viber is you can make free calls and video calls globally. You can also send photos and videos free of charge. This is a great advantage for people who want to communicate with family and friends internationally.

Fun Fact: Viber was created in Isreal and the headquarters are in Luxembourg, Germany.

Tumblr

Tumblr is mainly used for blogging and expressing yourself freely and anonymously. It's both a social media networking and blogging site.

The purpose of Tumblr is to have a way to put all your blogs, pictures, anything you want to share with other people in one single location. This is useful for personal interests, such as putting writing compositions together or photography compositions together but also for educational reasons.

As of December 7, 2018, Tumblr has more than 450 million blogs.
