Student directions: Have the children listen to the phoneme I make and then draw that letter in sand;
Listen to sounds in words and then draw the letters
in the sand
Adaptations: Auditory cue may be given by giving a word that it sounds like letter sound; Hand-to-hand assistance with letter formation that corresponds with sound may be necessary; Have them create their own words in the sand and have them identify each sound; Provide harder words, like: Quilt, Flat, Bold, Part, Sand

LP: Sound building in small groups
Adaptations:
Auditory cue by giving a word that it sounds like;
Kinesthetic cue by having child trace letter card
Student Directions:
"spell _ _ _, identify first, middle, and last sound;
what sound does this make?"
Assessment:
Each child is given 2 words and asked to identify
6 sounds (1 point each) and given 1 point for blending
(7 points possible)

LP: Phonetic alphabet with green cards

Pack out green phonics cards and put them in alphabetical order; spell words using sounds heard
