Why you should check out Nottingham Forest

Players

Morgan Gibbs-White

Morgan Gibbs-White has been essential
to our success this season. He is always
finding the best passes and has been
our star man on the counter attack.

Chris Wood

Chris Wood is currently breaking out into the main scene. Before this, he was a Championship-level striker past his prime years. But this season, he has truly found his footing and is performing to the best of his ability, well past his prime at the age of 33.

Murillo

Murillo has been a defensive rock all season long getting goalline-clearance after goalline-clearance. He is now being discussed to play internationally for Brazil due to his success in Nottingham. He has been magical on and off the ball and we can not be in this position without him

Season

Significance to me

This year was the first year I have
watched the Premier League. Before
this year, I would check up on the table
every matchday to see what was
happening but I never watched because
I didn't have a streaming service to watch
it. This year I got Fubo, and as soon as I
started watching we went on a long
unbeaten run.

Position

This year, Nottingham Forest have been one of the biggest underdogs. They have went from being on the verge of being relegated to the 2nd division two years in a row, but this year they surprised everyone and are now fighting for the Premier League title.

Manager

Last year, we said goodbye to beloved manager Steve Cooper and hired Nuno Espírito Santo. He has guided us to many wins and heights I would've never thought were possible. If it wasn't for our great manager, we would be nowhere near our current position near the top of the table.

History

Rivalries

Nottingham Forest has many rivalries due to its extensive history. Our biggest rival is Derby, as they are in a similar spot to us and same with our second biggest rival, Leicester. We also have rivalries with Notts and Mansfield for sharing the same city with them, Manchester United and Liverpool because of history, and Wolves, Aston Villa and multiple other Midlands teams because we share the Midlands with them.

Champions Leagues

In 1978, Nottingham Forest won the Premier League. Because of this, we qualified we for the 1979 European Cup now known as the Champions League. After beating Liverpool, Athens, Grasshopper, and Köln, we had to play Malmö to win the cup. We did so 1-0 and lifted our first Champions League. This resulted in Forest playing in the next European Cup. After beating Öster, and Argeș Pitești, we then had to win from behind against Dynamo, and trouncing Ajax, we were drawn to face German opposition, Hamburg, in the finals. By a 20th minute strike from Robertson, we had a 1-0 lead and we maintained that to win back-to-back European Cups.

Getting Relegated

In 1997 we got relegated, after a promotion and another relegation, we were re-relegated. We were mid-table for a number of years until we got relegated in 2005 to League 1. We were stuck multiple divisions away from where we once stood for a number of years, up until 2008. In 2008, we got promoted with a 2nd place finish getting us into the Championship. After multiple years, in 2021-22 we were bottom of the Championship after 7 games with only a single win, however once we hired Steve Cooper, he turned the ship around and guided us to 3rd place and promotion after a playoff game versus Huddersfield.

Counterargument

On the surface, Nottingham Forest seems like a random team to support, but underneath the surface, we are the most eccentric fanbase. The clubs in the big 6 have a mostly soulless fanbase filled with glory hunters that only want to see a winning team. Nottingham Forest however, due to them being well outside of the premier league, our fanbase is filled with only the most loyal fans in the Premier League. People all over the Premier League say Forest fans have the best atmosphere, and play the 12th man in important matches. The fans loyalty is finally paying off this season as our men have been playing their socks out. Manchester City's fanbase is the definition of unloyal fans and glory hunters, Manchester United are generic and waste talent, Arsenal is the most default London team, half of Chelsea's fanbase are just Cole Palmer fans that will jump ship the moment he leaves, Liverpool fans are just there to piss off their friends of other big 6 teams, and Spurs, well they are just Spurs which is arguably worse than anything else.
