Is Tourism hurting or helping Oahu, Hawaii?

3 Reasons why tourism should decrease

If tourism is the main focus in Hawaii it could affect the culture and local Hawaiin tradition

Second reason is that environmental impact of having too many tourist. the need for more hotels and resorts, shopping centres for visitors can take away space from the local people and natural wild life.

OverTourism gets overwhelming and makes it less enjoyable as their too many people and crowded in an area and also could impact local traffic. When theirs more tourism in an area their also tends to be more crime as tourist can be targets.

Possible Sterotypes

A Stereotype tourist might get from Hawaii is that people are always wearing hula skirt and flower lei but its just a tradition

Another Stereotype is that everyone surfs. although its very common not everyone do but Oahu is one of the best location to surf in the world

Pros & Cons of tourism

Cons

Over Crowding in one area can cause delays and be safety issues. also with higher amount of tourist the more crime it will attract.

The natural wild life and peoples home get destroyed to build resorts and other buildings for tourist .

with too much focus on tourist the island of Hawaii might forget about its old traditions and loose its unique culture

Pros

Tourism gives locals job opportunities in hotels, transportation, and entertainment

Tourism brings in money from other countrys into the economy and into local business

Visitors can learn and experience the culture and history of Hawaii and its traditions

Pearl Harbor National Monument, attracts almost 2 milion people per year

Lolani Palace, 1800s Monarch home just like Buckingham Palace in England
