ASSIGNMENTS

Read the rubric and focus on Level 4

Always proofread. Let others read, too.

Remember to read out loud.

Read in someone else's voice (in your head). There are things that I sometimes slip, but if I imagine it in my teacher's voice, I will notice them.

"If my teacher won't read it to the class, then I won't write it"

Work in multiple sittings. If I do it all at once, I'll burn out.

Write rough drafts by hand.

No rushing/procrastinating. Set "deadlines" for portions of work.

Brainstorm (on paper) before starting anything.

Don't worry about limits, run-on sentences, and repetition. Fix them after editing.

Avoid wordy sentences that don't add to the text.

Use a checklist to keep track

No slang/ contractions

Whenever I'm stuck, move onto the next part.

Quality over quantity.

HEALTH

Avoid distractions

Music: Listening to songs I already know instead of new songs helps. Noisy/Vocal music helps block out the family :)

No phone, and don't try opening up other tabs while
doing schoolwork.

Work at a time when I know I won't be contacted.

Remember: My work is less difficult than it looks!

Prioritize sleep and food over work.

Work on staying calm. There's nothing to worry about.

Don't feel ashamed when asking for an extension.

Baths always help in a pinch. You always get the best thoughts in the shower anyway!

Try not to spend too much time on the screen.
