r

Insects are the largest group of inverebrates. There are over 800,000 different species of insects! Insects live everywhere! The most common insects are butteflies, flies, beetles, and wasps. Instead of having spines (verebrate) like we do, instead insects have an exoskelton.

r

Arachinds are most commonly spiders. But Arachinds can also be scorpions, ticks and mites. Like insects they have an exoskelton, however they usually have four pairs of legs and joints that allow them to walk freely. Spiders often use their legs to hold and kill their prey.

r

Crustaceans live mostly in oceans or other types of water sources. The most commom crustaceans are crabs, lobsters and barnicales. They have a hard external shell that protects their external body. Like our other invertabrates they also have an antena that amazily stores their heart, digestive system, and respitory system (allows them to breathe)

Echinoderms

Echinoderms

r

Echinoderms are starfish, sea urchin, sand dollar and other marine animals that live in the ocean. Most of these animals have arms or spine that come from the center of their bodies. In a starfish that legs are used feeding. In sea urchins they have spines along their bodies to protect them from preadtors.

Annelids: Worms (click on note for more information)

r

Annelids are classified as worms and leeches. Their bodies are divided into segments. Think about if you have ever seen a worm, picture the the littles lines you see. Those lines indicate the segments! There are several different types of worms, a few are called parasites that can live in the human body!
