Assessment, Reporting, Grading
How can we assess creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, communication and other 21st Century skills?
Guidelines and timelines for assessments, reports, parent conferences with consistent criteria in order.
Do we need to do MAP testing 3 times a year? What are we doing with the data to make this a worthwhile use of our students' time?
Reevaluate the role of the ASSESSMENT BINDER in PK-5. Is there a possibility of moving towards a digital portfolio or student created CELEBRATION of LEARNING.
The format for Parent/Student/Teacher conferences could be altered to become more of a CELEBRATION of LEARNING.
Embedding Information Literacy PK-12
Research skills embedded into at least one unit per grade level per year. Integrate with library and IT to progress students' infomation literacy
K-5 library time for browse and borrow shortened and handled by teachers, CTAs and Elka when Kelly is integrating.
New library can accomodate 4 classes at once, teachers can bring students to library to research using computers and physical resources.
Collaboration amongst teachers
Common language across grade levels
Looking at student work for reflection
Use Monday meeting time to collaborate and plan integration several times a year. During this time teachers would choose what to work on and with who, teachers would submit a summary of achievements to administration.
