La Peste Negra fue una devastadora pandemia que afectó a Europa en el siglo XIV, originándose en la ciudad comercial de Caffa, en Crimea. La enfermedad, causada por la bacteria Yersinia pestis, se propagó rápidamente a través de las ratas negras y sus parásitos, principalmente pulgas.
