Multi store model of memory

The multi-store model of memory describes the process by which information is transferred through different stages of memory storage. Initially, information is captured by our senses and held briefly in the sensory store, which has a very limited capacity and a duration of less than one second.

Evaluation

LIMITATIONS
The model is oversimplified, in particular when it suggests that both short-term and long-term memory each operate in a single, uniform fashion. We now know is this not the case.
strengths
Many of the studies to do with this support the evidence of STM & LTM.
the model is influential a it has generated lots of research into memory.

hOW DOES IT WORK

Series of events
Information arrives at our senses

It is then held in the sensory store but only stays there for a short period of time and will be lost if you don't do somethng with it.
