Internment By Samira Ahmed

Responsibility to Others.
In Internment by Samira Ahmed, David is Layla Amin's boyfriend and he wants to save her from an internment camp. He helps by taking the letters that Layla wrote about the camp and posting them on social media in order to make the world aware of the horrible living conditions the internees face. He feels responsible to do this because Layla entrusted him with the letters. He succeeds in his responsibility to Layla because the camp is eventually closed and the people are free.
In Internment by Samira Ahmed, Corporal Reynolds is one of the guards at an internment camp for muslims called Mobius. As one of the people in power he feels responsible for doing the right thing and he believes the right thing is to help the internees. He plans on doing this by helping Layla Amin with her plan to make the whole world see the truth about Mobius. He later sacrifices his life to save Layla from the director’s bullet, and when the camp is finally closed Layla thanks him for his sacrifice. He succeeded in his responsibility to himself because he did what was right.

The highwayman by: Alfred Noyes

The highwayman is a thief of the roads and he had fallen in love with the landlord’s black eyed daughter who was named Bess. After Bess was killed, as her lover he believes that he had to fight to avenge her. He later fails in his responsibility to Bess because he gets killed by King George’s men.
In the highwayman by Alfred Noyes. Bess was in love with the highwayman and was told to wait for him by the moonlight. She would later find out King George’s men planned to set a trap for the highwayman using her as bait. She knew that she was the only one who could do anything to save him. She shot herself with the purpose of warning him even if it cost her own life. She fails in her responsibility to herself because the highwayman still fought to avenge her and died.

The taste of melon

Sam had a lot of Regret after stealing the melon. He wanted to make up for that by apologizing to Mr. Wills and helping him by doing the best that he could. After talking to Mr. Wills and returning some of the melon seeds, he had partially succeeded in making up for what he did because Mr. Wills had accepted his apology and asked him to help in farming melons for next year.
Responsibility to Others
In the story The Taste of Melon by Borden Deal, Mr. Wills had the responsibility of guarding his seed melon because he wanted his sick wife to taste the melon. He felt as if it was his duty to protect the melon for his wife to eat. He planned to do this by guarding the melon for many days and nights. Although he eventually failed and the melon was stolen by Sam. He did receive some of the seeds back and planned to get an even better harvest next year.
