Impacts of lung disease

Econmy

Three major chronic lung diseases cost Canada’s economy $12 billion in 2010. Lung diseases accounts for more than 6% of annual health-care costs in Canada. if no further enhancements are made to strategies for dealing with respiratory diseases, the annual economic burden is projected to double by 2030.

I learned the economy helps more than I realized with the charities that many people donate to. This benefits people struggling with lung diseases for their medications and treatments.

Employment

Respiratory dangers in the workplace may cause more than 1 in 10 people worldwide to become ill with a range of lung diseases. Most people with chronic lung diseases cannot find work or cannot work because of their symptoms, lack of physical movement without shortness of breath and energy as well as often developing heart issues.

Individual

the physical challenges of managing lung diseases can sometimes affect their mood and emotional health. Most individuals experience feelings of sadness, fear and worry at times. This is unfortunately common and normal when coping with a serious illness.

watching the video about living with Cf taught me individuals with lung diseases worry a lot of the time about whether they'll have a future and they truly appreciate when people are able to donate to research because some treatments can take up the whole day and takes alot of energy.

family

Family is often the only support system people who have lung diseases. They can become overwhelmed and children who use to run around with their parents/grandparents could feel guilty if they don't understand why they can't play anymore. The expenses of the medical care also takes a big toll on families who are not financially equipped to pay for medical bills and drugs for the sick family member. It can be very exhausting worrying for their loved one and if they are restricted physically because of their disease its even harder on them.

Media

The media is a positive way to learn , share and promote drugs/treatments for lung diseases. Families/ friends who are unable to go out and connect can talk online as well as raise money for someone who has a lung disease. There are online support groups for emotionally support for families and individuals affected and also jobs you can do online for immobilized people affected by lung disease.

health care system

Lung diseases exert a significant economic impact on the Canadian health care system. Presently, almost 6.5% of total health care costs are related to lung diseases. lung disease is projected to rise steadily from the current $15 billion annually to over $27 billion annually in 2030 for just asthma, lung cancer and COPD.

When people donate to certain fundraisers and clinical trials even if it isn't a lot it can pay for medications adults need to help treat their disease or get them into the trial.
