LIFE EVENTS
August 26, 1910: was born in Skopje, ancient city Albania today belonging to the Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
1917: his father dies, and his mother takes the reins of the family by setting up a business so that he can continue with the education of his children.
September 1928: At age 18, she joined the Order of the Sisters of Our Lady of Loreto in India, based in Ireland. There she received the name of Sister Maria Teresa (for Saint Teresa of Lisieux).
December 1929: He began his journey to India, arriving in Calcutta, and began his novitiate.
May 24, 1931: he made his vows of poverty, chastity and obedience as a nun.
May 24, 1937: Sister Teresa made her perpetual profession, becoming then, as she said, "Jesus' wife" for "all eternity." From that moment on she was called Mother Teresa. For 20 years I teach at the Colegio Santa María in Calcutta, India.
September 10, 1946: after the call of God, he places himself at the service of the poorest.
1948: Acquired Indian citizenship and Pope Pius XII granted permission to start a diocesan congregation. I leave the convent, wearing a white sari decorated with blue edges replacing Loreto's habit. His new congregation was called Missionaries of Charity.
1950: received training as a nurse for three months in Patna with the Medical Missionary Sisters of North America and began helping people with leprosy.
1952: inaugurated the first home for the dying in Calcutta. It was a free hospice for the poor where they received medical attention and were offered the opportunity to die with dignity according to the rituals of their faith.
1963: Pope Paul VI placed the Congregation of the Missionaries of Charity under the control of the Papacy and authorized Mother Teresa to expand the religious Order in other countries. She created the Collaborators of Mother Teresa and the Sick and Suffering Collaborators, people of different beliefs and nationalities with whom he shared his spirit of prayer, simplicity, sacrifice and his apostolate based on humble works of love.
August of 1962: obtained the award, "Padma Shiri", granted by the Indian government.
1969: the "Jawaharlal Nehru Prize" for the International Understanding.
1979: He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
March 1980: the "Bharat Ratna" (the most important given to a civilian in India).
1984: founded the Missionary Fathers of Charity.
1993: received the "Rajiv Gandhi Sadbhavana" award.
1992: an Indian citizen, wrote his official biography.
1995: received the "Dayawati Modi" artistic award.
1997: resigned as head of the Missionaries of Charity.
2003: Mother Teresa was beatified by Pope John Paul II

WHY I ADMIRE HER
I Admire Mother Teresa because she was a woman completely dedicated to the service and needs of other people, fought for the poor and helped change the reality of an unjust world, she was kind and humble, an example of life in an individualized society that revolves around her own needs.
