Unit 09 Expeditions Conditions

Unit Conditions

Must adhere to Individual Effort ethos

Work as individuals to identify locations and answers to questions

MUST attend the two required expeditions

Pay materials fees

Must provide own:

Walking boots

Food for expeditions

Must attempt to procure essential expiation equipment

Waterproof jacket and trousers

Warm hat

Gloves

Sleeping bag

Appropriate clothing

Expedition Conditions

Must be accommodated by camping.

You must have planned the expedition yourself

All expeditions must be by the participants’ own physical
effort, without motorised or outside assistance.

Must cook and eat a substantial meal on at least one evening and one morning.

Must navigate at least one leg of the expedition.

All participants must be
properly equipped.

Must wear and carry clothing and equipment appropriate to the conditions and terrain.

Must carry all own equipment

Have planned the expedition

Meet requirements of the risk assessment

Must work in a group

The team must plan and organise
the expedition.

The expedition should take place in a wild environment.

Code of Conduct for Walking in Groups

Stick together

For safety, to prevent getting lost and to save time.

Go at the speed of the slowest walker (don't dawdle though)

To stick together

No movement with phone in hands

To prevent slips trips and falls.

Smoke only during rest stops

Don't be a pikey.

No foul language within hearing of other people

Not fair on other people.

No Litter left

To preserve the environment of the countryside.

No Music played

Don't pollute the countryside with your noise.

No unnecessary shouting

Don't act like children.

Gates closed by last person

To prevent livestock escaping and just good manners.

Check behind you after every stop

To check you havent't left anything behind.
