Esta teoría propone que todas las sociedades humanas se estructuran en sistemas basados en jerarquías, en las cuales un grupo se caracteriza por tener valores más positivos que el resto, ejercer mayor poder político y gozar de un estatus social, de esta forma promueve la igualdad o desigualdad social.

El concepto de personalidad autoritaria condujo a la construcción de dos instrumentos para su medición las escalas como son: E( prejuicios hacia los afroamericanos, prejuicio hacia otras minorías y patriotismo ) Y F( evalúan las tendencias antidemocráticas en el fascismo para determinar el síndrome autoritario ). ambas orientadas a medir las tendencias antidemocráticas individuales, su núcleo de partida fue el estudio del antisemitismo ( etnocentrismo)
