During a period of socio-economic struggle in India, various movements emerged to address the grievances of different communities. In 1917, Satyagraha in Kheda, Gujarat saw peasants unable to pay revenue due to crop failure and a plague epidemic, leading them to demand a relaxation in revenue collection.
