What to Know About Fractions

The goal of this map is to aid in teaching elementary students in a unit on Fractions. The map includes information students need to know about fractions like the basics, finding equivalent fractions, finding common denominators, ordering fractions, and adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions. The map also includes videos, images, and websites the students could explore to get more knowledge about fractions.

Multiplying Fractions

To multiply two fractions, you simply multiply both numerators and multiply both denominators

Subtracting Fractions

If two fractions have different denominators, you must first find a common denominator before subtracting numerators

If two fractions have the same denominator, you simply subtract the second numerator from the first numerator
