Hitler used his military background, oppressive and aggressive leadership, and propaganda to make Germany a military threat again.
Treaty of Versailles
Germany felt the terms were unfair, they wanted to gain back the territory lost and make the country great again.

Was not successful in preventing another World War.
Appeasement
Britain and France tried to protect themselves by allowing Germany to invade Austria and Czech but it backfired because it allowed them to feel strong enough to invade other European countries.

Men 18-45
Enlistment was high in Canada, most provinces and territories had 50% of the male population participate in the war.
Women
Worked in munitions factories making weapons, could volunteer for the war effort as drivers, nurses, communications operators

Germany is warned about any further invasions but invades Poland anyway and Britain, France and the Soviet Union declare war on Germany.

Canada was worried about the spread of Fascism and wanted to support Britain in the war effort to stop Hitler from taking over all of Europe.

Japanese Canadians were viewed as suspicious and sent to remote, labour camps without their possessions, separated from their families and stuck in poor living conditions for 3 years,
