What Causes it?

The insufficient production of the lactase enzyme in the small intestine

As your sources of lactase decrease, the amount of lactase enzyme production decreases

Can be inherited genetically throughout the family

Usually develops in children in their single digit ages

Symptoms

Causes diarrhoea and gas

Causes the feeling of fullness

Cramps and pain

Nausea and vomiting

Uncomfortable bowel

Treatment

No specific treatment

Doctors recommend to try low dairy foods regularly

Types

Primary Lactose Intolerance (most common/normal)

Secondary Lactose Intolerance (illness or injury to intestine)

Congenital or developmental lactose intolerance (born with/inherited)

Developmental lactose intolerance (premature birth development)
