Data Management

Organizing information involves understanding various statistical measures such as mode, mean, median, and range. The mode is identified by finding the number that appears most frequently in a data set.

Mean,Median,Mode & Range

Range

Set of Data: 2,5,6,4,3,8,9 Highest Number:9 Lowest Number:2 9-2=7 Range=7

How to get the range

To get the range, all you need to do is, subtract the highest number by the lowest number. The sum is the range

What is Range?

Range is the difference between the greatest and least number in a set of data.

Mode

2 Modes: 3,3,6,7,7,5 Mode=3&7

No Mode: 3,5,8,9,1 No Mode

1 Mode: 5,4,4,8,9 Mode=4

How to figure out the mode?

All you need to do to find the mode is, basically just see which number comes the most in the set. If there is 1 number that comes the same number of times as another number than there are 2 modes. If all the numbers come only once than there is no mode.

What is a Mode?

The mode is the number that occurs the most often in the set of numbers.

Median

With doing the mean: 2,1,3,5,6,7

X,X,3,5,X,X

3+5=8 8÷2=4 4=median

Without doing the mean: 2,3,5,6,8,9,7

X,X,X,6,X,X,X 6=median

How to get the median?

To get the median, you first need to put the numbers in order from least to greatest. Then, you cross out all the side numbers, till you get to the middle one which is your median. If their are two left over numbers then you do the mean to it, meaning add first then divide the answer by 2.

What is a Median?

The median is the middle number when data is arranged in numerical order.

Mean
Example

2,5,6,5,4

2+5+6+5+4= 22 22÷5=4.4

How to calculate the mean?

To get the mean, you firstly, need to add all the numbers in the set of data. Then, you divide the answer by how many numbers are in the set. The answer is your mean.

What is a Mean?

The mean is the average.

Data Management is organizing information.

Circle Graph
Circle Graphs are used to represent data as percentage or as a whole.
Stem and Leaf Plot
Stem and Leaf Plots are used to order data by place value.
Scatter Plots
Scatter Plots are used to show the type of relationships exists between two sets of data.
Line Graph
Line Graphs are used to show change over time.
Bar Graph
Bar Graphs are used to compare data.
