Blog 2--Cognitive Complexity
Marc Prensky
Technology is a foundational skill evident in every aspect of life
Creative capabilities are enhanced because the brain is
extended and enhanced by technology.
Brain Gain--when we use technology to do things our brain
doesn't already know how to do.
Schools should be open to the idea of allowing students to stay connected to technology.
Give students a chance to use technology to prove what they can create and do! Students want to:
Be Respected/Trusted
Be able to follow their interests
Prensky focuses on using technology and student choice to create products, which is a higher level thinking activity.

Characteristics from Zhao and Prensky can be seen in the Create Excellence Framework.
Focuses on individualized instruction and technology use
Students generate a question, then research their problem and they use their creative side to come up with a solution. Often times they use technology to create their final product.
Students are highly engaged in higher level thinking skills
