Access to All

Mark Ray
Changing the conversation from "shh..." to "How can I help your with technology?"
Funding
Essential for Literacy
"school library is essential to every long-term strategy for literacy, education, information provision and economic, social and cultural development" (IFLA, 2019).
Therefore, funding should be supported by specific legislation and policies
School Libraries must have adequate and sustained funding for trained staff, materials, technologies and facilities. They must be free of charge!

Many different "hats" to wear
"school library provides information and ideas that are fundamental to functioning successfully in today's information and knowledge-based society. The school library equips students with life-long learning skills and develops the imagination, enabling them to live as responsible citizens" (Boekhorst, 2019).
Goals of the School Library
The essential goals of the school library is for it to be a vibrant, interactive place where kids can come create, explore, navigate information, do research, have fun, care about learning, take different views, check out facts, what is credible and what is not, but overall, be empowered to learn on their own!
