Pick up
To answer the telephone. For example: If you need me, you just have to pick up the phone.
Cut off
When the telephone connection gets disconnected accidentally.
For example: He was cut off in the middle of his conversation.
Hang up
To end a telephone call by breaking the connection.
For example: I hung up and wrote down the message.
Put Through
To start a telephone connection. For example: The doctor is
in now, I'll put you through.
Get through
To establish a connection with someone on the phone. For example: I couldn't get through, the line was engaged.
Call back
To return a phone call. For example: I'll call you back if
I hear something.
Hang on
To keep a telephone line opened while waiting
for a short time. For example: Hang on, I'll see if she's here.
