COVID 19 CONSEQUENCE MAP

The COVID-19 pandemic led to several significant environmental and global consequences. Countries worldwide had to adapt their land use to accommodate an increasing number of patients by building new hospitals and repurposing land for burials.

Global Consequences

Basically every county is impacted by COVID 19 but the most impacted are USA, India, Brazil, Russia and Columbia
Columbia with 869,808 total cases

Columbian borders are sealed and only one person is allowed to be out from every household. People can only leave for essential issues as well

Russia with 1,237,504 total cases

Russia has implemented some laws like the arrival of non-essential travel is banned and a state of emergency was issued

Brazil with 4,970,953 total cases

Brazil isn't able to go into lockdown because of people that live on a day to day basis so their just waiting for the condition to ease up on its own

India with 6,754,179 total cases

India went into a Nation-wide lockdown quickly but people couldn't live as they couldn't work and the health care isn't the best but they are doing the most they can with their budget

USA with 7,718,090 total cases

People say they weren't prepared but some states have required people to wear masks, testing has increased and recreational buildings have been closed as well

Environmental Consequences

Long term affects on the environment
Physical distancing will only let a few people travel by plane and gather at public events which will limit the amount of pollution
People will start to travel less and cancel some plans as they may be afraid of them contracting the virus
Physical distancing will stay in place for a while which means less people will be able to travel at a time
Short term effects on the environment
Borders were sealed as well so people are staying at home more which reduced CO2 emissions by half
People stopped going on planes and cruises got closed
It had a positive impact because the amount of pollution we produced decreased
Changes in Land Use
Other countries built hotels as well to make more beds for new patients as hospitals were full
Some countries had to use land to bury the people that died due to COVID 19
Some countries had to use land to build more hospitals like China did
Impacts on Conservation Groups
The people who participated were also impacted because they were left with nothing to do
The wildlife was impacted as well as the groups weren't there to help them
Most groups closed completely or were severely impacted
Changes in lifestyle
It was good as countries closed their borders so air travel was decreased
It was good for the environment as people stopped going outside
Exercising for people changed as gyms and recreational centres shut down
Everyone's schedules got messed up as they were basically locked inside

Local Consequences

Testing
3. The lab then contacts everyone and tells them their results and tallies up the total positive cases
2. Those tests then get sent to a lab for testing
1. The tests get conducted at all of the testing centres that are open across Ontario
Prevention Strategies
Keeping a distance of 2 metres (6 feet) from others at all times
Limiting gatherings to 10 people inside and 25 outside
Wearing a mask in all indoor public places
How COVID 19 is monitored in Ontario
Theres a NNDSS system in which basically each health department tells Ontario how many cases, deaths and recoveries they got so Ontario can update themselves and the public with the numbers
Ontario also used contact tracing so they can contact everyone who has come in contact with everyone who's related to a patient who has tested positive
There's an app that can alert you if you have come in contact with someone who has later tested positive
Total cases in (As of October 6th)
Brampton: 5,967
Peel: 9,808
Ontario: 55,362
