I do want to study in another country so, something I could do is take Spanish language classes.
I could take CO-OP to help me get more familiar in the hospitality industry.

What are the ‘internal’ barriers that could get in my way?

Cultural Differences
I think there really are no way straightforward ways to overcome this barrier. It is going to be hard and I have accepted that. The only things I could is research as much as I can about Spain and the hospitality industry in Spain. Also trying my best to learn about the culture and of course the language.
This brings me to the next issue - Cultural differences. Studying and working in a country where I have no experience in can be very hard. I have actually thought about it multiple times if I really wanna do this or not but I always come back to the answer yes. Spain is a completely different country meaning a different hospitality industry. I already have Canadian hospitality experience meaning I would have to start completely over.
I would overcome this barrier by working in another country. This may seem like a simple solution but I actually want to study abroad in Spain so I have the opportunity to grow myself in the hospitality area as much as possible & also have experience in an European country.
There are several hotels in Canada but I would love to work in other countries where hotel business is more expanded, full, and have more opportunities. Usually it is warm countries that a lot of people tend to travel to & be tourists at. Canada has a lot of hotels and a wide hospitality area but I would love to work in a more tourist-like country.
Lack of Local Opportunities.
