When I was in 7th grade I took my first debate class and gave my first speech.

Participating in a 7th-grade debate class was a transformative experience, marked by memorable moments and the guidance of an enthusiastic teacher. This teacher used unconventional methods, such as having students dance like sugar plum fairies in public, to help overcome social fears.

The human brain is amazing and gives humans potential without limits.

other memory fragments

Teacher was very animated and helped us learn how to approach speeches and debate.
I gave my first ever speech about why books are better than movies.

It is important that one is aware of his/her flaws.
After you acknowledge them, you give yourself the
possibility to improve them or even get rid of them.

What do you think are your flaws? How can you improve them?

Reconstruction errors

My teacher may have given scenario to help us learn how to debate, but I could be wrong about that.
I could confuse the feelings I feel now about the memory with the feelings I actually felt at that moment.
I could remember the order of events that occured incorrectly.

Healthy mind in a healthy body, right?
Make yourselft a routine which fits your time and try to stick to it!

Declarative or non-declarative?

This memory is declarative because it is a vivid memory of an event in my life that requires some effort to think about.

Your new hobby can also be a recreational hobby. For example, you can try pottery, Italian cooking, dancing, etc.

You can also track your progress and have a little 'graduation' when you learned a new skill.

sensory connections

I can hear the weak applause after my speech.
I could feel the pounding in my chest and my hands shaking when I got nervous.
I could hear the loud sounds of students getting excited and passionate.
I wasn't wearing shoes and I could feel the soft carpet.

Learning a new language can become a mind-opening experience.

Cognitive hooks

He used acronyms to help us remember the format of an outline for a speech.
Favourite quote

You can add your favourite quotes too.

He had us dance like sugar plum fairies in public to get over social fears.
The first thing my teacher did was give the story of Patrick Henery. He then recited the "Give me Liberty or Give Me Death!" speech with as much passion as Patrick Henry did. He then invited us to have the same amount of passion for our speeches that he did.
