Hunting Wepons and Tools
Snares were used to hunt rabbits and partrige.
Bow and arrows are really common. They used them to hunt other annimals.
Deadfalls were used to hunt predators such as foxes and bears.

Shelter
Wigwams are made of sticks and Tree bark. They bent sticks to the top and tied them together with rope.

This video is of kids and adults building a wigwam. It also shows the inside!
They also put a hole at the top of a wigwam so the fire in the middle of the wigwams smoke goes out the top.
Clothing
They made leggings,sleeves and breechclothes of moose and deer skin. Breechclothes were animal hides sowed together and hung from a man's waist. They sometimes had colourful patterns on them.
They also made moccasins out of deer and moose.
This is a traditional Mi'kmaq outfit for a gathering. They put alot of floral patterns on clothing.

Powwow
this is a video of an Indigenous Powwow. Powwows happen every year and they celebrate the Indigenous culture. powwows have been around for centuries.
The first video is of a traditonal Mi'kmaq song with voices and insruments. They sing this song at celibrations and gatherings. This is an old song that has been passed down for many years.
At a powwow they do traditonal dances and eat lots of food.
Food
The Mi'kmaq main foods were meat, Fish, Wild plants and berries. The type of meat they eat is rabbits, Bears and Foxes.
Mi' kmaq people eat alot of meat. They take out anything from the animal that is not meat, then they take of the skin and then cook their meat over fire then.
With the leftovers, they never let then waste. They may use them for shovels to dig or skin to make clothes.

The Mi'kmaq made their bows out of maple! They also made then of wood and string.
The Mi'kmaq stored the lobster thet caght in the ground for later consumption.
The Mi'kmaq mostly hunted marien life such as walrus, porpoises, whales and seals.
They ate all kinds of fish such as salmon, sturgeon, lobster, squid, shellfish and eels. As well as seabirds and their eggs.
