What were popular jobs?

Canada West

Some popular jobs/industries in Canada west were trading, blacksmith, farming, working at mills, weapon factories, authors, chimny sweeping, lighting lamp posts, sewing, teaching and baking.

Nova Scotia

A few of the booming jobs in Nova Scotia were fishing, shipping, ship building, agriculture, extracting natural gas and wood traiding. All of these jobs were basesd on tradition of this region.

Why did these groups migrate?

Nova scotia

Many black people came to Nova scotia for jobs in the mines, fishing and ship building. Over 30,000 of them were forced there for slavery.

Canada West

Through out 1763 and 1865, african Canadian slaves were brought to Canada West with some escaped and some always free.

How were different groups of people treated differently?

Canada West

By the year 1793, Canada west set out a law that any african american entering Canada west a slave would be freed although they would still be treated with un fairly racism. Indigenous canadians once owned Canada West until britain came in taking over leaving them nothing but with farming and making syrup. Britain took Scotish and Irish people under their wing because they were able to speak English lettting them adapt easier.

Nova scotia

Black slaves who immigrated to Nova scotia did not have access to churches or schools, having owners who were white American loyalists. For the african american free settler's some of the white society had troubles accepting them around the region.

A couple famous people were William young in 1857-1860 and JohnW. Johnson during 1860-1864 both being leaders of their time in Nova scotia.
