What is it?

Operations research (OR) is an analytical method of problem-solving and decision-making that is useful in the management of organizations. In operations research, problems are broken down into basic components and then solved in defined steps by mathematical analysis

Where does it come from?

The beginning of this was when the British military commanders needed a way to manage the resources in an optimal way and to develop new strategies and tactics, in the second word war. They called scientists to design a method to solve all the problems that they had, so the first experiment was the "radar".

1950 was the year that George Dantzing introduced the method "Simplex" to solve problems of linear programming based on the problems that british military had to face in the war .This method was introduced into the bussinees, industry and government.
