-Sawm -Fasting

Fasting takes place during Ramadan.

Fasting in the Ramadan is mandatory except for:

Who do heavy work.

Children.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Sick people.

Fasting lasts from sunrise to sunset.

Sawm involves abstaining from:

Food.

Drink.

Smoking.

Sex.

Sawm helps Muslims develop self-control, gain a better understanding of God's gifts and greater compassion towards the deprived.

Eid al-Fitr is the party that ends Ramadan.

-Zakat -Almsgiving

It is the practice of charitable giving by muslims based on accumulated wealth.

It is obligatory to all who are able to do so.

It is 2.5% of the income.

Zakat shows that all are equal before Allah.

The zakat is given to the poor.

By charity the possessions they have are purified.

-Shahadah-Profesion of Faith

Muhammad is prophet.

One god-Allah.

-Hajj -Pilgrimage

At least once in their life.

It is mandatory for adults with economic means.

It is performed in the 12th month of the Islamic calendar.

The pilgrimage is to visit the Kaaba, in Mecca.

Pilgrims should wear simple clothes so as not to stand out because they are all alike to Allah.

The pilgrims perform a number of rites recalling the life of the prophet.
