Touring Around Bogotá

Many works by the artist Fernando Botero are on display at the Botero Museum in the center of Bogotá. This site in La Candelaria was founded in a colonial house, and houses a collection of 208 works

The current site of the Museum of Modern Art in downtown Bogotá was designed by architect Rogelio Salmona and features 4,331 works by international artists such as Pablo Picasso, Auguste Rodin, and Diego Rivera, Colombian artists such as Alejandro Obregón, Edgar Negret, Nadín Ospina, and Carlos Jacanamijoy.

The museum, which houses about 20,000 artifacts, antiquities, and works of art, has been located in the former Central Penitentiary of Cundinamarca building since May 2, 1948

The Bogota Planetarium is located in Calle 26 B No. 5 - 93, between Santamaria Square and Independence Park. Devoted to drive awareness of astronomy, space knowledge, and science in general.

In La Candelaria, the historical center of Bogotá, you can visit the Luis Angel Arango Library, the largest in Colombia and one of the busiest in the world, with nearly 5,000 daily visitors.

The Virgilio Barco Library houses, among other things, a collection of 150,000 volumes, reference and specialty rooms, and an auditorium with a capacity for 350 people.

The historical National Library was the first public library in the Americas. It was founded on January 9, 1777 and opened at its current location on July 20, 1938

A wide variety of events are held in the Julio Mario Santodomingo Theater in northern Bogotá: from operas, musicals, concerts, and ballet performances to contemporary dance and theater.

One of the most important cultural venues in the city is the Jorge Eliécer Gaitán Municipal Theater, which hosts major events such as the Iberoamerican Theatre Festival of Bogotá, the International Jazz Festival, and the Festival of Contemporary Dance.

The Free Theater, established in 1973, grew from the theater group at the University of the Andes.

The Colón Theater opened on October 27, 1892 to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of Christopher Columbus to America, and was reopened in July 2014 after a renovation that began in 2008.

The Simon Bolivar Park is slightly larger than New York's Central Park. It is a nice spot with lakes, bike paths, walkways and a public library. West of the park is the Botanical Garden Jose Celestino Mutis, it has a variety of national flora from different climatic zones, some in gardens and others in greenhouses.

This 47-acre site is home to moorlands, Andean forests, and cloud forests, a rose garden with 73 kinds of roses, and greenhouses with warm, dry, and rainy climates.

Is one of the busiest public spaces in Bogotá during the weekends and holidays. Visitors can ride a pedal boat or row in a boat or kayak on the park’s lake.

Look no further than Monserrate Hill for the best views of the city. The image of the Lord of Miracles is worshipped in a shrine on top of Monserrate Hill.

The Maloka Interactive Center in the west of Bogotá, is an ideal place for children; their curiosity is stimulated as they have fun and learn about topics such as science, technology, the universe, and the history of mankind.

The Children's Museum, in the West of Bogotá, features 20 modules designed for children to play and learn about topics related to science, technology, and culture.

Seven different “worlds” of fun rides, including family, children’s, and extreme, are open for visitors to the World Adventure Park.

A symbol of the locality of Chapinero is the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, whose architecture represents the Gothic Revival style in Colombia. The temple, built in 1875, was modified in 1917 and is known for its polychrome stained glass windows of German origin

The Church of Our Lady of Chiquinquirá, which was built between 1925 and 1959, is an excellent example of Gothic architecture in Bogotá.

A must see site on Bolívar Square is the Cathedral of Colombia, the first church in Bogotá, which was built in 1539 by order of the city's founder, Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada.
