Parts of a News Report

Introduction: the first sentence of the News Report that summarises the story ‘in a nutshell’ and covers key information.

Date: a particular day of the month or year when the News Report was published.

Header: information (such as a page number or a title) printed or placed at the top of the News Report.

Image and caption: the picture on the News Report, and a short piece of text describing it.

Development: the process by which the News Report grows and becomes bigger, more successful, etc.

Conclusion: the opinion after considering all the previous information.

Headline: the title of a newspaper story that is printed in large letters above it.

Subheading: a word, phrase, or sentence that is used to introduce part of a text.

Nuclear plant: a facility that converts atomic energy into usable power.

Reactor: a large machine in which atoms are either divided or joined in order to produce power.

Smouldering: burning slowly, producing smoke but no flames.

Blaze: a large fire.
