MARS COLONY
Colony- a territory under the
immediate complete political control
and occupied by settlers of a state, distinct
from the home territory of the sovereign.
Elon Musk - is an engineer, industrial designer and technology entrepreneur.
His organization SpaceX proposed plans for a human mission to Mars, the first step towards any colonization effort, but no person has set foor on the planet.
He is important as he plans to colonize Mars and send people to live there temporarly.
Mars rovers:
-a mars rover is a motor vehicle that travels across the surace of Mars gathering data about the soil, the atmosphere, the geological composure of the rocks. They use solar panels to replenish their bateries.
Effeccts on human healt:
Mars presents a hostile enviroment for human habitation. Different technologies have been developed to assist long-term space exploration and may be adapted for habitation on Mars.
Reasons for colonizing Mars are mostly
pure cutiosity, the potential for humans to provide more in-depth observational research than unmanned rovers.
Also colonizing other planets means that we have a smaller likelihood of human extinction.
Of course, there are some difficulties and hazards such as radiation exposure, low gravity, toxic gases, the lack of water and cold temperatures.
Before we colonize iz we have to know some basic facts about the Red planet:
-the martian day (sol) is very close in duration to an Earths day. A solar day on mars is 24 hrs and 39 minutes long.
-Mars has a surface that is 29.2% of Earth surface and has only half the radius of Earth and only one-tenth the mass which means the gravity is lower.
-Observation by NASA`s Mars Reconnaissancce Orbiter(a satelite that orbits Mars and gathers information about geology or the climate) shows that there is a presence of water in ice on Mars. But most of the ice is actually called "dry ice" which is basiclly frozen carbon dioxide.
-Plants generally cannot survive the ambient conditions present on the surface of Mars, as well as extremophile organisams.
The atmospheric pressure on Mars is far below the Armstrong limit(a measure of altitude above which atmospheric pressure is sufficiently low that water boild at the normal temperature)
