The lives of women in The Middle Ages were determined by the church and the aristocracy
Roles of women
Women’s rights and opportunities in the Middle Ages were not uniform
The rights of women from the earliest era through the last grew significantly owing largely to two distinct factors
the increasing popularity of the Cult of the Virgin Mary https://www.intriguing-history.com/cult-virgin-mary/
the development of the concepts of courtly love and chivalry
Women's Job
In Medieval towns women often helped their husbands with their work. Sometimes if a man died his widow would carry on his trade.
Some women became nuns but they too had to work hard. At least they did if they were from poor families.
Nuns from rich families were given the easiest work such as spinning wool and embroidery. https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwij1fD8uLflAhURZd8KHfmYAjUQjRx6BAgBEAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fhistoryseamstress.wordpress.com%2F2013%2F05%2F08%2Fcushion-embroidery-first-ever%2F&psig=AOvVaw0kviakjvg0Ig_IRWvEfBi3&ust=1572094080856539
