Ensure the tool selected enhances learning rather than having learning fit the tool.

Ensure that time is scheduled to check in with learners and comment on discussions.

Have students reflect on their learning and how they are progressing in the course.

Provide learners with guidelines on how long each learning sequence will take in order to help them organize their time.
