How urbanization has effected the biodiversity
History
In modern times the difference of how our towns and cities are built in association with nature is quite apparent.
but this wasn't always the case.
per-modern times, the relationship between nature and civilization was showcased
Subtopic
Urbanization is a relatively new concept.
for the first time in human history a majority of the earth population inhabit cities. Which means with the demands comes the problems.
Governments and contractors see that new block or that new street as a financial thing so if it comes to a choice between that new street that will pump money into the local economy or that small meadow its likely the meadow will take a hit.
whether this means it means the vital habitats are lost or are fragmented in ways that it cant support the ecological communities.
Effects
With the growth of towns and cities also come with the decline in local wildlife.
studies show with the growth of urbanization comes the risk of certain areas having to loose plant or animal life that may have benefited the location.
In the USA alone urbanization has lead to the endangerment of nearly 300 species.
local species are going extinct take for example The UK, urbanization is the reason for the extinction of 35% of scarce plants.
Whats being done to help.
with the current bee crisis (something that urbanization played a part in) we have realized we cant change the past but our actions for the future can also be of benefit
