Passion Project (DNA)
What does DNA stand for?
What is DNA?
DNA is an extremely long chain of molecules that contain all of the info needed for the life functions of a cell.
DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid.
What is the purpose of DNA?
It's the genetic code that determines all the characteristics of a living thing.
What is a strand of DNA?
What kind of nucleotide are inside of DNA?
There are four kinds, Adenine (A), Thymidine (T), Guanine (G) and Cytosine (C).
A strand of DNA is like a long sentence that only uses four different letters.
How many strands of DNA are inside of DNA?
DNA has two strands a lot like a zipper and the nucleotides are the teeth of the zipper.
Why is there two strands of DNA?
This two strand system is how DNA is able to make copies of itself. This happens because one strand is complementary to another strand.
What are the molecules inside of DNA?
The molecules that make of DNA are called nucleotide.
What are nucleotide made of?
Nucleotide are made up of sugar and a phosphate molecule. Which makes up the backbone of DNA.
What nucleotides match up with each other
Adenine (A) matches up with Thymidine (T) and Guanine (G) always matches up with Cytosine (C). Since they pair up they are called base pairs.
