Quality of government: the glade
equality
Are all citizens' preferences adequately represented in the political decision-making process?
not really, they have influence but only Alby can make those decisions so it is more based on what he thinks.
Is the public able to find out what the government is doing (except for necessary confidential information)?
Yes. The public is able to find out what the government is doing easily because there are so few people in the glade. There is confidential information that the government (alby and the runners) are not sharing for the sake of everyone. They hide that there is no way out of the maze (at the time).
Freedom
do they have freedom of movement?
Not entirely. they had freedom to live and move anywhere in the glade but unless you were a runner you weren't allowed to into the maze.
is there an independent justice system
no, Alby who was the leader made all the decisions. when Alby was infected and couldn't be in court for them it just became them blaming eachother like little kids
control
Are there free, regular, and competitive elections?
No. In the glade the gladers did not have any elections. The leader was decided by senority because of this alby was the leader because he was the first person to arrive at the maze.
Do the courts ensure that laws follow the constitution (the Charter of Rights and Freedoms)?
The courts in the maze runner they dont really have a court it, is more like the leader deciding a punishment and seeing if people agree or disagree.
