Follows a ride mechanic named Eddie. He is a cynical, cantankerous old man with no loved ones. One day, he is crushed by a circus ride that he tries to fix.

Eddie realizes he's dead, and is greeted by a little girl. She takes him on a journey to view some moments from her own life or from his past that were either dark or seemed insignificant. He meets three more people along the way that show him more events.

Upon meeting the fifth person, everything starts to make sense for Eddie. He realizes none of these moments were insignificant, and even the dark events in his life lead to beautiful things. He realizes his life had meaning and all of the lives he touched along the way.
