What factors are necessary to ensure that people die with dignity?

Make sure they have some form of companionship.

All family is aware of what is going on.

Parties are held to celebrate the patient's life.

A class is held to explain the situation and answer any questions.

Find out who the closest living relatives are.

There are plenty of nurses available during the day and night.

People are allowed to shadow nurses to see what it is like.

High schoolers are informed of the wide options open to the medical field especialy nursing.

Fundraisers are being held.

Someone is willing to spread the word.

Treat them as if they were not dying.

Learn that dignity never goes away. They are as equal of a person now as they were at birth.

Ask someone what dignity is.

Think about how the elderly/dying are like newborns.

Look at religious documents like DIGNITAS PERSONAE.

Learn that death is not a disease, and those who are dying should not avoided.

Talk to someone who has come close to dying.

Reflect back on deaths of loved ones.

Volunteer at elderly home and hospice related places.

Learn to accept death as a natural event. It is not the end, but a time for a new beginning.

Think about the fact that loved one's will be waiting in paradise.

Watch documentaries about death to come to a better understanding of it.

Learn about your religions views about death. (Most believe in the after life.)
