Canada's Implications on the Korean War

USA overshadowed Canada's contributions

We were working as a satellite of the USA & UN, our resources were under them

The US lead the fight from South Korea, while China & the Soviets were fighting from North Korea. With all of these large names, Canada was being overshadowed

The USA's relations with Russia began to fall after this, putting more attention to the Cold War running at this time

Canada wasn't widely recognized at the time of the war, so many considered it like a satellite of the USA

Other things going on in the world

World War 2 ending just a few years before, many resources and people were exhausted

Many Canadians were lost due to World War 2, the general population was still dealing with that

Communism in Russia was at a high

Stalin was reigning over Russia at the time

Relationships with other countries

Canada built relationships with countries such as South Korea itself

Canada’s first and only free trade agreement in the Asia-Pacific region is with South Korea

Relations with South Korea as of now are doing great

Contributions of other UN Member States

Other UN Members were recognized more for what they did in comparison to Canada

Belgium, Luxembourg, Colombia, Ethiopia, France, Greece, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Canada and Thailand had units attached to U.S. Army divisions. With all of these other countries, Canada's contributions were bound to be forgotten
