Malvolio into believing that
he is mad.

Maria tricks Malvolio
into believing that Olivia
is in love with him.

Sir Toby deceives Sir Andrew into believing
that Olivia is jealous of him.

Maria's letter

Orsino: "That say thou art a man : Diana's lip
Is not more smooth and rubious; thy small pipe
Is as the maiden's organ, shrill and sound;
And all is semblative a women's part."
I, iv, 31 - 34

Viola: "Disguise, I see thou art a wickedness
Wherein the pregnant enemy does much.
How easy is it for the proper false
In women's waxen hearts to set their forms!"
II, ii, 26-29

Olivia falls in love with Viola, who was in
her man disguise (Cesario)

Olivia marries Sebastian because
she thinks he is Cesario.

Malvolio does exactly what Maria's letter
says making Olivia think he is mad.

Malvolio wore yellow stockings and
cross-gartering and he had a smile on
his face which was very unlike him.

Sir Andrew and Cesario have a battle.

Antonio gets arrested, because he
was seen when he was trying to stop
the battle because he thought Cesario
was Sebastian.

Love

Love causes the characters to
act different and get in awkward
situations because they're in love.

Olivia sends the ring over to
Cesario to show him that she
is in love with him.

The ring is used to represent love.

Viola: "After him I love, more than I love
these eyes, more than my life, More, by all
mores, than e'er I shall love wife."
IV, i, 129-133

Orsino: "O, when mine eyes did see Olivia first,
Methought she purg'd the air of pestilence;
That instant was I turn'd into a hart."
I, i 19-21

Most of the characters get
in situations that are a result of
them being in love.

Sir Andrew challenges Cesario
because he saw Olivia flirting
with him.

Olivia sends Cesario a ring
because she fell in love with
him.
