The document outlines a phased approach to rebuilding the ARSData Collection System, focusing on enhancing data reporting, processing, and collection. Each phase targets specific improvements, starting with the replacement of existing data collection and reformat applications with new ActiveX controls, aimed at streamlining and standardizing data input processes.
Note: phase design will occur as appropriate prior to development on a phase by phase basis
ARSData Collection Rebuild Schedule
PHASE 4:Populate Database and Perform Data Validation
design: new data processing application will be built to populate IMC and AQDB databases and perform data validation
future: data processing needs to be handled by VB data processing application
current: data processing is currently handled by separate PowerBuilder application
PHASE 3:Data Reporting
design: new data reporting application will be built and will be the final piece in replacing the existing AirNow
future: data reporting needs to be part of a queuing process so that data delivery can be completedby any data collection machine and different report formats can be programmed by users
current: data reporting is completed on each data collection PC
PHASE 2:Queuing and Site Maintenance
design: new data collection queuing and site maintenace application will be built and use ActiveX controls for data collection. This will replace DataColl and the data collection components of AirNow.
future: data collection needs to be queued in VB application such that data collection jobscan be picked-up by any data collection PC as processing time becomes available
current: data collection is queued in a PowerBuilder applicationusing a static site list on each data collection PC
PHASE 1:Data Collection and Reformat
design: multiple ActiveX controls will be built to replace third party and in-house data collection and reformat applications. New ActiveX controls will be bolted into DataColl (not AirNow).
future: data collection and reformat applications need to be replaced by ActiveX controls
current: data collection utilizes numerous third party and in-house applications to complete data collection via dial-up and TCP/IP from 4+ logger types
